UNIVERSITY OF HERTFORDSHIRE COMPUTER SCIENCE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM presents "A Standardized Digital Forensics Platform for Identity Theft Investigations" Dr. Olga Angelopoulou (School of Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire) 2 December 2015 (Wednesday) 1 pm -2 pm Hatfield, College Lane Campus Lecture Theatre LF233 Everyone is Welcome to Attend Refreshments will be available Abstract: A number of cyber-security incident statistics demonstrate the extent of leaked personal and private data from trustworthy sources as well as cyber-attacks that target the retrieval of specific personal and private information. Such incidents leave the identity information of the potential victims vulnerable and can lead to identity theft. Digital forensics is employed when there is a requirement to retrieve digital evidence after a security incident. At present there is little cooperation and sharing of resources and intelligence data amongst the different digital forensic investigation agencies and stakeholders. In this talk, the concept of a Standardized Digital Forensics Platform for Identity Theft Investigations is presented. Such a platform can extract identity theft artefacts regardless of the case type and nature. The centre of gravity for this research is to develop a forensic tool capable of identifying correlations between seemingly unrelated identity theft evidence, effectively assisting investigators with the profiling of perpetrators and victims. Such a tool could provide an innovative approach to support counteractions against ID theft. --------------------------------------------------- Hertfordshire Computer Science Research Colloquium http://cs-colloq.stca.herts.ac.uk
