UNIVERSITY OF HERTFORDSHIRE COMPUTER SCIENCE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM presents "Visual Localisation and Image Matching" Dr. Vassileios Balntas (Oxford/ Lead Researcher, Scape Technologies) 5 December 2018 (Wednesday) 13:00 - 14:00 Hatfield, College Lane Campus Seminar Room C152 Everyone is welcome to attend Refreshments will be available Abstract: Precise visual localisation is one of the most active subjects of research in computer vision, due to the direct applicability in several areas such as self-driving cars, augmented reality and assistive technologies. However, it still remains a very challenging task, since matching images requires visual representations invariant to visual distortions introduced due to several factors such as illumination changes, weather conditions, time of day differences and occlusions. In this talk, I will present a brief review of methods related to image matching and localisation, discuss current approaches and explore future challenges. --------------------------------------------------- Hertfordshire Computer Science Research Colloquium http://cs-colloq.cs.herts.ac.uk
