UNIVERSITY OF HERTFORDSHIRE COMPUTER SCIENCE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM "Document Copy Detection" Dr. JunPeng Bao (Xian Jiaotong University, China & University of Hertfordshire, UK) 10 May 2006 (Wednesday) Lecture Theatre E350 Hatfield, College Lane Campus 3 - 4 pm Coffee/tea and biscuits will be available. Everyone is Welcome to Attend Abstract: Document Copy Detection (DCD) studies on how to find copied text in a collection of documents plays an important role in Intellectual Property Protection, and in finding plagiarism in students' work. Though a finding of plagiarism is ultimately a subjective judgement, it is very useful to have an automated copy detector in order to save our valuable reading time. How does the computer compare 2 documents? Is the computer able to give us a reasonable result? I will present some methods that address these issues, such as Heavy Frequency Model, Semantic Sequence Kin, and Common Semantic Sequence Model. I will explain the underlying principles of these methods and discuss some of their features. -------------------------------------------------- Hertfordshire Computer Science Research Colloquium http://homepages.feis.herts.ac.uk/~nehaniv/colloq
