Abstract:

How do you picture your ideal robot companion?  Many people seem
to think that an ideal robot companion should be able to do a butler
job and some would even expect the robot to act as a nanny.  This
inevitably leads to the question of how human robots should be.
This talk will give an overview on what is currently available as
robot companions and whether they fulfill people's expectations.
Although robots become more and more performant, every individual
is different, and having the same type of robot for everybody seems
highly unrealistic.
