You are invited to a joint Computer Science Research Colloquium and Research in Teaching and Learning Seminar on 23 November 2011, Wednesday 1 pm in Lecture Room C152 Jill Hewitt and Andrew Marunchak will present AVATAR: The two-year EU-funded AVATAR (Added VAlue of Teaching in A viRrtual world) project is just drawing to a close. It aimed to enhance the quality of teaching and education in secondary schools through the use of an innnovative virtual world environment. Andrew Marunchak and Jill Hewitt are members of the UH team who have been working with partners from five other countries. They will give an overview of the project, concentrating on the development of the virtual world environment and accompanying course which was undertaken by teachers from across Europe. They will reflect on the success of the project and lessons learned for the future use of virtual worlds in education.
