UNIVERSITY OF HERTFORDSHIRE COMPUTER SCIENCE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM "UH Research in the RobotCub European Project: Interaction Histories, Kinesics and Sensorimotor Maps" Naeem Assif Mirza (School of Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire) 26 April 2006 (Wednesday) Lecture Theatre E350 Hatfield, College Lane Campus 3 - 4 pm Coffee/tea and biscuits will be available. [Catering Permitting] Everyone is Welcome to Attend [Space Permitting] Abstract: RobotCub is a 5-year European Integrated Project to build an open platform for research into cognition in robots. 16 partners worldwide are contributing to building a child-sized humanoid robot, studying the neuroscience and developmental psychology underlying the developmental of cognitive behaviour of children and ultimately creating a developmental cognitive system able to learn through interaction with human partners. Hertfordshire (Adaptive Systems Research Group) are contributing expertise in human-robot interaction and sensor adaptation using information theoretic techniques. I will describe our work in the areas of Interaction Kinesics (Aibo-child studies, KASPAR a robot platform built at Herts), building and using adaptive sensorimotor maps, and the development and use of Interaction Histories (with examples of an Aibo playing a peekaboo game).
