The debate about digital natives rumbles on, with varying reports about
the usage trends of online social networks.  Despite this, Facebook and
Twitter continue to be major destinations for young people, accounting
for as much as 35% of their time spent online.

In this seminar I shall be discussing students relationship with social
media as compared to StudyNet.  This is based on the results of a pilot
study (across two schools and 6 cohorts) that investigated two key issues:
- students use of social networks, particularly on mobile devices,
and their attitude to using them for academic purposes
- the feasibility and value of automated publication of StudyNet updates
via  Facebook and Twitter

be trying to engage students where they spend their time online, or
staying out of their online personal space.
