UNIVERSITY OF HERTFORDSHIRE COMPUTER SCIENCE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM presents "Machine Learning may be the Answer but is it Trustworthy?" Professor Martin Shepperd (Dept of Computer Science, Brunel University London) 22 February 2017 (Wednesday) 1 - 2 pm Hatfield, College Lane Campus Seminar Room D102 Everyone is Welcome to Attend Refreshments will be available Abstract: Developpments in machine learning are taking place at an astonishing pace and already are having huge societal impact. The question we must confront as computer scientists is how do we evaluate these learners and in particular how do we predict their likely field performance from training behaviour? In order to answer these questions I consider two classes of problem both drawn from the domain of software engineering: project effort prediction and software defects. I conclude by arguing that the concerns of researchers need to be better aligned with the likely end-users. --------------------------------------------------- Hertfordshire Computer Science Research Colloquium http://cs-colloq.cs.herts.ac.uk
