UNIVERSITY OF HERTFORDSHIRE COMPUTER SCIENCE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM presents "Analysis of Facial Behaviour in Naturalistic Environments" Dr. Hamit Soyel (Department of Computer Science, Queen Mary, University of London, UK) 14 November 2012 (Wednesday) 1 -2 pm Hatfield, College Lane Campus * * Room C152 * * Everyone is Welcome to Attend Refreshments will be available Abstract: As robots are increasingly being viewed as social entities to be integrated in our daily lives, social perceptive abilities seem a necessary requirement for enabling more natural interaction with human users. The talk will detail an interaction scenario where users play chess with an iCat robot and propose an affect recognition system that uses computational models to automatically extract visual features allowing the detection of the level of engagement with a social robot that acts as a game companion. Components within the talk will touch on the multimodal integration of head direction information with facial expressions displayed by the user and how this fusion improves the recognition of the user's affective states. I will also provide a live demonstration of the proposed system. --------------------------------------------------- Hertfordshire Computer Science Research Colloquium http://cs-colloq.stca.herts.ac.uk
