UNIVERSITY OF HERTFORDSHIRE COMPUTER SCIENCE RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM presents "Exploratory Learning of Interactive Devices (Or why you can't work out how to use your central heating timer)" speaker: Dr. Anna Cox Computer Science Department University of Hertfordshire 13 November 2002 (Wednesday) Lecture Theatre E351 Hatfield Campus 3 - 4 pm Coffee/tea and biscuits will be available. Everyone is Welcome to Attend [Space Permitting] Abstract: Almost every day we are forced to interact with devices of some kind or other in order to heat our homes, cook our dinner, travel to work or do our jobs. It is therefore more important than ever that we understand the factors that influence how well we can complete our tasks using these devices. In most of these situations, we don't have immediate access to a manual to tell us what to do. I shall describe some experimental and modeling work that has investigated what we do and what we learn when exploring interactive devices. -- Hertfordshire Computer Science Research Colloquium Abstracts On-line: http://homepages.feis.herts.ac.uk/~nehaniv/colloq/
